Maths

Maths is an essential part of everyday life, understanding the world which we live in, it teaches the ability to reason mathematically and has a sense of enjoyment and curiosity.

The aim of maths is to ensure pupils become fluent, reason mathematically and solve problems. At Kemball we follow the programmes of study in year groups then track back to meet the child’s individual needs.  Teachers will ensure pupils’ understanding and concepts are embedded before moving on. Pupils have many opportunities to consolidate their understanding with additional practical experiences and have the opportunity to apply their mathematical knowledge in other areas of the curriculum to develop their confidence in mathematics. From Year 1 upwards B Squared is used to assess pupils’ progress in all areas of Maths.
