Post 16 PMLD provision at Kemball School

Kemball School’s Post 16 provision caters for pupils who have profound and multiple learning difficulties in addition to complex medical needs. This group of pupils will access Asdan personal progress accreditation, follow engagement steps, to allow focused assessment, as well as covering activities to encourage progress in all areas of the preparing for adulthood guidance. Class tasks will reflect a personalised approach and focus heavily on individual targets. Pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties require specialist care in all areas including medical and physical. It is essential they have access to hoists and other equipment which allow them to take part in activities. Kemball School currently has 6 classes specialising in the education of pupils with PMLD. The data collected each term shows progress is made in all areas including the targets from EHC plans. Staff are experienced in this area and set well thought out challenging goals which allow pupils to work to their strengths. With this provision this level of education and care would be extended to those aged 16-19.
